Eastman molecular recovery unit goes into operation

On March 22, Eastman announced that its new molecular recycling device in Kingsport, Tennessee, has been put into production. The products meet the specifications and have begun to generate revenue. The company will gradually increase the unit's production capacity in the coming months and achieve business growth in multiple markets. The device is expected to gradually bring approximately US$75 million in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization to Eastman in 2024, while also assisting the development of its circular economy platform.

Sanyo Chemical exits SAP business

Recently, Sanyo Chemical announced that it will withdraw from the super absorbent resin (SAP) business used in diapers and other products. Production at the company's factories in Japan and Malaysia will be phased out, and the subsidiary that produces SAP will be dissolved. Due to the withdrawal of this business, Sanyo Chemical will incur special losses totaling approximately 20 billion yen. Affected by this, the company announced that it has lowered its financial forecast for the fiscal year ending 2023 to 2024, and its full-year results will be in the red.
